There are a lot of nice places to discover and interesting things to explore around Freestland.
- Anklam: The native Brothers Lilienthal were great inventors. Otto Lilienthal was the first man flying in history, his brother Gustav was dedicated to the Lebensreform movement.
- Freest: Situated at the Baltic coast and vis-a-vis of Peenemünde this little village is well-known for its fish and the famous Freester Fishercarpets.
- Greifswald: This beautiful hanseatic city is hometown of the Ernst Moritz Arndt University, one of the oldest universities in Germany. The university harbours 23 Pomeranian Fishercarpets and the very precious Croy tapestry from 1554.
- Kröslin: In the local Christopherus church you can see the famous Kröslin altar-rug.
- Lassan: The smallest town in the whole Bundesland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is situated at the Achterwasser (Backwater) and has got a nice gothic church.
- Peenemünde: The village in the north of Usedom island was the birthplace of the first rockets reaching outer space, unfortunately developed as weapons (V2).
- Wolgast: The former residence of the Pomeranian dukes bridges the way to Usedom island and was hometown of Philipp Otto Runge, one of the most important artists of German Romanticism.
